Facial SPF Recommendations

I have a love hate relationship with SPFs. Being oily and medium skin toned I faced for years two big problems. Firstly a white casting left from residue of SPF making me look washed out and ill, secondly pore clogging causing breakouts. This was such a nightmare for me even on holiday I would have serious breakouts, that it put me off and for ages I gave up, didn’t wear any! (I know so bad I could smack my own bottom).

I have since joining the skincare community through my blogging journey come to learn that SPF is the most important part of your skincare routine, all year round! Not just when its scorching hot outside. When there is daylight there are sun rays which cause premature ageing and skin cancer. So always protect your face.

I am bringing this Facial SPF Recommendations post to you now in the summer though as right now the suns at its most powerful and can cause burning as well as ageing and skin cancer so it’s more important than ever to protect your face as you would your body.

Here are some Londors approved and recommended SPFS that do not leave white cast or cause breakouts and work particularly well if you are oily like me to, though they are all suitable for all skin types.

Dermalogica Invisible Physical Defence SPF 30 * – This one goes on white so you can see exactly where you have applied it then it dries clear. Its quite thick and a little goes a long way for coverage.

Garnier Sensitive Advance Face SPF50 – A spray on high protection sun cream that goes on like a mist. I especially love this one as you can apply over makeup with out ruining it. Its also great if you are fair or have sensitive skin as it gives maximum protection and also good for kiddies who hate sun cream. I put this on my daughter when shes not in water as its “scream free” if you are a parent you will understand this luxury. Non greasy.

Murad City Skin Age Defense SPF50 *– Another High protection sunscreen which is perfect especially for fair skin. This one is quite a splurge money wise but it is very good! Not only does it protect your skin from the sun it also has a dose of vitamin C to brighten the skin and help fight against pollution preventing breakouts. This is also the only mineral sunscreen I have managed to use that doesn’t cause any problems with my skin and its peach tint prevents and white casting. The lightweight milk formula is also so comfortable you don’t realise you are wearing any sunscreen. There is no stickiness at all.

Evy Daily UV Face Mousse with SPF 30 – This unusual mousse formula takes some getting used to but once you work out the right amount for your face it’s a dream. CeraVe Facial Moisturising Lotion SPF25 *– A popular moisturiser formulated for normal/ dry skin with a built in SPF25. Fragrance free and oh s very gentle this is a great moisturiser that saves you money and time. Also although it is low protection it’s a good ne if you are darker skinned and don’t need high protection or if you are only going to be out a short while. A lovely lightweight formula that absorbs into the skin beautifully.
